I am in The Netherlands right now for four workshops and trainings. It's great to be here with so many friends and wonderful people. Last evening we held a masterclass for the Dutch graduates of the Transformational Presence Coach Training program. It was a wonderful evening with many insights. The two most important words that came out of the evening for me were simplicity and recognition.
Several of the coaches were feeling overwhelmed with the complexity of their clients' issues and challenges. We came back to talking about the Four Levels of Engagement, the first principle of Transformational Presence Coaching, and the simplicity of that model. In essence, that model shows us that our first questions in any situation can be, "Who do I choose to be here?" and "What's the opportunity?" The simpler the questions we can ask, the more it takes us to the essence of what is really happening and we move forward more quickly.
The second word was recognition--recognition of who we are at any moment, and when we are truly grounded in our essence and when we have lost that grounding. When we have lost that grounding, it is important to be gentle and compassionate with ourselves, yet also firm to step back into that grounding.
And so simplicity and recognition. Just those two words can be touchstones for a life of clarity and focus, allowing us to move in the world in a way that feels authentic and true.
