During our first TP group teleclass, I was joining the goup whilst on holiday on the beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia - where things tend to 'happen' in their own time and in their own way. Such is the Bali-way-of-life. This led to an interesting experience for me whilst linked to our call (with the telephone malfunctioning, I could hear everyone however no one could hear me). Here is what I penned to Alan shortly afterwards...hope you enjoy this story of opportunity.
Just touching-base after our call this morning. I am wondering what the opportunity with the challenge in Asian telecommunications is for me!? Although you could not hear me, I was fortunate to be able to hear everything on the call and do the activities. Including a big YES to all of the commitments – I wanted you to know this. When I tried to un-mute by pressing *6 I kept getting a message to say the conference administrator had muted the call, so I remained muted. I am sorry I could not participate....In its own way though, it was a very interesting experience for me, sitting listening with the energy of frustration of not being heard and to stay above that story! I really enjoyed listening to each person and the coaching session with Angela was a really useful demonstration of how you built the bridge from story to choice and opportunity. Thank you for showing us this.
Finally, immediately after our call, as I was riding my scooter to my yoga class, along a narrow, winding pathway through the Ubud monkey forest (which literally is a setting that could be out of Lord of the Rings or Avatar!), a rich place of tree roots, undergrowth, moisture and monkeys everywhere, and I was still going through the motions of frustration at not being able to have participated, noticing blaming etc, the monkeys taught me a valuable lesson.... Here they were, some being playful, some resting, some scratching, some alone, some in pairs or groups, just being monkeys. I could let go of what had occurred and be like a monkey! Be playful, take it lightly, be in the now, soak up the energy of the forest. It was really great learning! The opportunity was to be in the moment and discover all that I could about that journey through the forest. Then having the opportunity to transfer the energy of frustration into my yoga practice made for an intensely focused, yet light session, for which I am eternally grateful and continually blown away by!
